Digital Journalist Supervisor
WAND-TV is looking for a Digital Supervisor to lead our team of digital journalists. The team is responsible for daily content on digital and broadcast platforms. We're looking for someone who is organized, has solid news judgment, and be able to think strategically.

What you will do:
- Work closely with the News Director to align digital strategies with overall editorial goals
- Be a digital advocate in editorial meetings and other meetings with station management
- Facilitate regular web team trainings to stay up to date with the latest digital trends and best practices
- Collaborate with talent, producers, and marketing to craft content and strengthen social media skills
- Write effective digital headlines and summaries that help attract audiences
- Schedule posts and share news stories across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other apps.
- Monitor a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) in search of trending topics for content creation; train and assist talent on how to effectively reach and properly engage viewers
- Edit sensitive content for publication-readiness, including clarity, fairness, legality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style
- Write original content for digital platforms and newscasts
- Assist journalists on crafting content and strengthening social media skills
- Send breaking news alerts
- Execute creative social media and SEO strategies with the goal of targeting and growing new digital audiences
What you will bring:
- Strong writing skills with understanding of AP style and format
- Excellent news judgment that helps engage readers online and on all social media platforms
- Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Expert knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and experience managing various accounts across social platforms
- Ability to work in a digital environment using Web host and supporting software; ability to generate visually appealing content on all platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills among digital team members, assignment desk, and TV Producers; work as a team to create a cohesive product.
- Familiarity with social media analytics; SEO knowledge preferred
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or similar
- Experience: 1-2 years prior digital/publishing experience
- Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft applications including Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of Windows based media applications including Photoshop and Town News CMS
The salary range for this position is $42,000-$47,000 based on experience
